About Aerocort Inhaler

Aerocort Inhaler is a commonly prescribed medication for respiratory conditions, primarily asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). It is a combination medication that contains two active ingredients (Levosalbutamol and Beclometasone).

What is it used for?

It is used for the long-term control and management of asthma symptoms like wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. This includes conditions like chronic bronchitis and emphysema, where it helps in managing symptoms and improving airflow.

How to use it

Always follow your doctor’s instructions for dosage and frequency. Place the mouthpiece between your teeth and close your lips tightly around it. As you inhale deeply through your mouth, press down firmly on the canister to release the medication.

If more than one puff is prescribed, wait about 30 seconds before repeating the process. Crucially, rinse your mouth with water and spit it out (or brush your teeth) after each use.

How Aerocort Inhaler works

Levosalbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic receptor agonist. In simpler terms, it acts on specific receptors found on the smooth muscles lining your airways (bronchi and bronchioles).

When levosalbutamol binds to these receptors, it triggers a series of biochemical reactions inside the muscle cells. This leads to an increase in a molecule called cyclic AMP (cAMP).
